My birthday is approaching, and I have a lot of thoughts in my head in terms of that. I always have, and these are the happiest full of gratitude ones. Because honestly, there were moments when my health was so uncertain, I wasn’t sure I’d make it this far, which was a good thing to learn from in the long run, as I am very aware that almost nothing is forever, including our lives, so it’s better to put some effort into it and make it as happy and joyous as possible.
I always believed that everything gets better with age; I just wasn’t sure I’d live that far.
- So, know this: year by year you care less about what others are doing or thinking.
- You have learned how to feed yourself, so no need to think about that too much;
- you have figured out how to listen to your body, instead of harassing it with the foods or exercise or places and people that aren’t for you.
- You’re happy with what you’ve chosen so far, and the things that didn’t change—you realise—were also for you and not against you. Therefore, you do not make a number out of the things you used to, including people that aren’t meant to come along or who keep choosing crap into their lives.
- You have started to trust yourself, follow your own knowing, and stopped validating others’ opinions over yours etc.
